Breath Test Instructions

There are only minor differences in collection of breath samples based on the type of test being performed.

Standard Breath Test Collection Intervals

Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO)

• Samples are collected every 20 minutes for 3 hours total (1 baseline/control & 9 breath samples after ingesting Glucose/Dextrose or Lactulose sugar)

Lactose Malabsorption/Intolernace

• Samples are collected every 60 minutes for 3 hours total (1 baseline/control & 3 breath samples after ingesting Lactose sugar)

Fructose Malabsorption/Intolerance

• Samples are collected every 60 minutes for 3 hours total (1 baseline/control & 3 breath samples after ingesting Fructose sugar)

Sucrose Malabsorption/Intolerance/Deficiency

• Samples are collected every 30 minutes for 3 hours total (1 baseline/control & 6 breath samples after ingesting Sucrose sugar)
